How did your passion for the dogo argentino?
Dogo Argentino is according to our opinion the breed that consists of all characteristics that an ideal dog should have: stable character, fearlessness, bravery, unlimited loyalty and dedication to the family, extreme intelligence, excellent guardian dog, harmonic constitution, elegancy in movement, simply the dog that dog that conquer with his character and outlook.

E’ nostra opinione che il Dogo Argentino sia la razza che racchiuda in sé tutte le caratteristiche che il “cane ideale” dovrebbe avere: equilibrio, audacia, coraggio, lealtà senza limiti e dedizione alla famiglia, intelligenza spiccata, guardiano, costruzione armonica, eleganza in movimento, semplicemente il cane che ti conquista col suo carattere ed aspetto.

How did you start breeding them and in what subjects?
In 2004 I bought my first Dogo Argentino Brutus de la Cocha. This dog conquer my hart with his behaviour and outlook. In 2006 I met a veterinarian dr. Djordje Kolbas. Since we share the same passion we soon became friends. In 2007 we have decided to start breeding together this wonderful breed. I have to emphasise that dr. Kolbas has more experience than me, he is a breeder for a longer period of time. At the moment we have 5 Verdes Pampas Dogos imported from Brazil,(2 males, 3 females) 2 De Argentum imported from Argentina, 1 very perspective female Del Tolkeyen from Italy and 2 females of our own breed and daughter of my beloved Brutus. We were trying to obtain the best genetic potential that possible for further quality breeding.

Nel 2004 comprai il mio primo dogo, Brutus de la Cocha. Mi conquistò.. Nel 2006 incontrai Djordje Kolbas, un veterinario, e condividendo la stessa passione diventammo subito amici. Nel 2007 decidemmo di iniziare ad allevare insieme questa stupenda razza. Sottolineo che il Dott. Kolbas ha più esperienza di me, essendo allevatore da più di me. Attualmente abbiamo 5 dogo importati dal Brasile (tre femmine e due maschi), allevamento Verdes Pampas, 2 argentini dell’allevamento De Argentum, una molto promettente femmina italiana dell’allevamento Del Tolkeyen e 2 femmine di nostro allevamento, figlie del mio adorato Brutus. Stiamo provando di ottenere la migliore base genetica potenziale per un futuro allevamento di qualità.

What are the criteria that follows a good breeder to select their dogs?
Our objective is to breed Dogos Argentinos with great champion potential resulting from the excellent lineage of each litter. Our passion is to respect the essence of the Dogo Argentino as a great hunter of big game, providing early socialization to our dogs to enable their adaptation to any home. Our premises are to breed healthy litters without inbred faults. Parents of each litter have to have full vaccines and de-worming, veterinary check-up prior to mating and X-rays to uncover hip joint dysplasia before mating. These are the basic criteria that every serious breeder has to take in consideration. Of course we carefully combine particular individuals based on the genotype and phenotype characteristics. It is a very personal approach of each breeder what type of dog we are looking for and on our own taste he likes.

Il nostro obiettivo è allevare Dogo con grande potenziale da campione, che provenga dall’eccellente linea (di sangue) sita in ogni cucciolata. La nostra passione è rispettare l’essenza della razza come grande cacciatore, socializzato ed adattabile alla vita domestica d’ogni famiglia. Nostra premessa è allevare cucciolate in salute senza difetti ereditari. I genitori delle suddette cucciolate devono godere di buona salute ed essere lastrati per la displasia (dell’anca) prima di essere utilizzati. Questi sono semplicemente i criteri base che ogni buon allevatore dovrebbe considerare. Naturalmente selezioniamo attentamente quali soggetti incrociare in base alle loro caratteristiche di genotipo e fenotipo. E’ un approccio molto personale in base al nostro gusto.

What was the greatest satisfaction that you've had?
For every breeder the greatest satisfaction is to grove mentally and physically healthy litter, to carefully follow its development. The crown of your work is to see them being successful on competitions and in further breeding.

Crescere una cucciolata sane e bella sotto ogni punto di vista è la più grande soddisfazione di ogni allevatore. Il coronamento del proprio lavoro è vederli gareggiare con successo in competizioni ed usarli in allevamento.

What is the best dogo argentino to exist in your kennel, male and female?
At the moment we have rather quality breeding stock. Perhaps we could emphasise our multi national champion and Vice World Champion Chalaca Verdes Pampas, a young male that won several B.O.B. tittles in different Dogo Argentino specialized exhibitions Tucuy Verdes Pampas and young but very perspective female Isamora del Tolkeyen.

Al momento abbiamo complessivamente uno stock di autentica qualità. Forse però dovremmo enfatizzare la nostra multi campionessa e vice-campionessa mondiale 2009 Chalaca Verdes Pampas, un giovane maschio già varie volte Migliore di razza in mostre Speciali dal nome di Tucuy Verdes Pampas ed una giovane femmina molto promettente, Isamora del Tolkeyen.

In your kennel there are subjects that are used in hunting?
Although hunting with Dogo Argentino is forbidden all our dogs have passed a “controlled” contact with a boar in order to check if they have inheriting hunting instinct.

Anche se il tipo di caccia con Dogo è proibita, tutti I nostri soggetti hanno avuto, sotto controllo, un diretto contatto con cinghiali, per verificarne l’istinto predatorio.

There was an Italian dogo you liked the exposure to Bratislava?
Yes, especially worth to mention this year WDS Champion Guaro del Tolkeyen. An extraordinary dog. We mate this excellent dog this year with our female Stella Luna Vedes Pampas and we are expecting an excellent litter. Italy is among the leading countries in the world when Dogo Argentino is in question. Here I would like to give my respect to Del Tolkeyen kennel, owed by Mr. Stefano Chiatti. This fact that dogs from this kennel won 2 WDS and 5 EDS titles speak enough about the quality of the dogs and experience and knowledge of the owner.

Sì, in particolare ha valore menzionare il campione mondiale di quest’anno, Guaro del Tolkeyen. Un cane straordinario. Abbiamo subito accoppiato la nostra Stella Luna Verdes Pampas con lui, ed aspettiamo un’eccellente cucciolata. L’Italia è tra i paesi di riferimento nel mondo, quando il Dogo è in questione. E qui, mi piacerebbe esternare il mio massimo rispetto per un allevamento in particolare, quello Del Tolkeyen, del Dott. Stefano Chiatti. Il fatto che cani del suddetto allevamento abbiano conquistato negli ultimi anni due titoli mondiali ed almeno cinque europei (senza tener conto degli innumerevoli titoli nazionali), la dice abbastanza circa la qualità degli stessi nonché dell’esperienza e della preparazione del titolare.
